Citizens in Rom…
Citizens in Romeoville Illinois are angry because Hanson Material Service company, operating a local quarry, is asking the village for permission to begin underground operations and to expand their operation to 80 additional acres that have not been quarried in the past. Hanson Material Service Company allegedly has not paid any local taxes since 1999 and is said to owe approximately $685,000 to the village. The company is pleading ignorance and said they did not receive a tax bill since 1999 and are requesting 5 years in which to pay the back taxes and are asking that the penalities of about $180,000 be waived because they forgot they owed the money. The company is being represented by a man who always seems to find seedy issues to defend, the Chairman of the Will County Republican Party Richard Kavanaugh. People do not count but dollars are important.

The Weekly Reporter is currently investigating allegations that a company known as Wexford Health Sources Inc. is cutting inmate medications to save money. They contract with states to provide medical and mental healthcare to inmates of state correctional facilities.
